What this page deliberately does not say

Warranty

A real landscape company would set out its warranty terms here in full. This is a demonstration site, so publishing terms would mean inventing them — which is exactly the kind of claim that makes a warranty worthless.

No period, no coverage and no remedy is stated anywhere on this site. This is a demonstration site, so it publishes no licence numbers, insurance certificates or accreditations.

Six things to check in any landscape warranty

  1. What exactly is covered

Plants, workmanship and hardscape are three different things with three different lifespans. A warranty that does not separate them is not telling you much.

  2. For how long, from what date

From installation, from final inspection, or from the end of the establishment period? The difference can be a whole season.

  3. What voids it

Almost every plant warranty depends on watering. Ask what "normal care" means in writing, and what evidence of it you are expected to keep.

  4. What the remedy is

Replacement, credit or repair — and who pays for the labour to install a replacement, which is often more than the plant.

  5. Whether it survives a sale

Most do not transfer. If you may sell within the period, it is worth knowing before you rely on it.

  6. Who backs it

A warranty is only as durable as the company writing it. A firm that appeared after the last storm may not be there for the next one.

One further thing worth more than any of them: a plant that fails in year one usually failed because of where it was put, not what it was. Ask how the site was assessed before the plant was chosen — that conversation predicts the outcome better than the warranty does.
